Dulcimer and accordion once again bring folk performers from different countries to Postavy

June 30, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The cimbalom and accordion will ring out again in Postavy. The XIII International Festival of Folk Music "Zviniać cymbały i harmońik" will be solemnly opened on July 2, the head of the culture department of the Postavy District Executive Committee, Natalia Bulavintseva, told a BELTA correspondent. Guests are expected at the festival - amateur creative groups from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland. The artists will not only introduce the audience to national musical art but also hold a competition of folk instrument ensembles and performers "Who is who?". According to music critics, the Postavy festival is unique in that it features both authentic national music and folk music in its stage version, which makes it popular with a wide audience. The festival guests are not going to limit themselves to one concert venue in Postavy and will give concerts in the agro-towns of the Postavy district. In addition to folk ensembles, professionals will take part in the festival - the G. Tsitovich National Academic Folk Choir of the Republic of Belarus, the I. Zhinovich National Academic Folk Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, the "Classic-Avant-garde" ensemble of soloists, the "Svjata" ensemble, and Yakov Naumenko. According to Natalia Bulavintseva, Yakov Naumenko and the "Svjata" ensemble will be the lead singers in a huge choir, which will perform the national anthem on July 3 in the central square of Postavy in honor of Independence Day. The Belarusian anthem will be picked up by the residents of Postavy and their numerous guests - delegations from twin cities from Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Participants and spectators at the festival can expect an exhibition of folk craft masters, visits to the sights of Postavy region, and participation in competitions and performances. The final gala concert of the festival will be held on July 4. As Natalia Bulavintseva noted, this year is an anniversary for the "Zviniać cymbały i harmońik" festival. It was first held in Vitebsk 20 years ago, then it was hosted by Mogilev twice, and 17 years ago the cimbalom and accordion found their home in Postavy. In 1997, the festival received international status. -0-
