The floral carpet competition in the Lithuanian city of Anykščiai was organized as part of the project "Promotion of Tourism Development in the Border Regions of Latgale, Utena and Vitebsk" (Bela Dvina-2) of the cross-border cooperation program between Latvia, Lithuania, and Belarus.

In addition, the created floral masterpiece had to be durable enough to withstand the forces of nature.

The Polotsk carpet represented a Belarusian rushnyk (embroidered ritual cloth): the ornament was made of red carnations, and the base was made of white chrysanthemums. In total, over 1,000 blooming flowers were used in the composition. Fifteen people worked for seven hours to create the carpet.

This floral masterpiece was recognized as one of the best in the nomination "Preservation of National Identity and Heritage."
