The "From the Varangians to the Greeks" tourist route will allow you to feel like a barge hauler or a merchant - Ch. Shulga

June 12, Minsk /Corr. BELTA/. The "From the Varangians to the Greeks" tourist route will allow you to feel "the spirit of that time." As Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of Belarus Cheslav Shulga told a BELTA correspondent, anyone will be able to imagine themselves as a barge hauler or a merchant. At least five countries, from Scandinavian states to Greece, will participate in the creation of this unique route. Moreover, three basic points have already been identified in Belarus, which will be located along the route. At each of them, tourists will be offered some original animation program. In particular, in the Orsha region, where one of these locations will be, a pseudo-historical fair may be organized. Its participants will wear clothes of those times, tourists will be offered products made according to ancient recipes, and purchases will have to be paid for with special coins that can be purchased nearby. Cheslav Shulga emphasized that the world community, and in particular the World Tourism Organization, supports the idea of creating such a route. "The 'From the Varangians to the Greeks' route will attract investment to the country and enhance the image of its national tourism industry. Today, when it is so difficult to surprise tourists with something, the emergence of such a tourist route can be a great success," the deputy minister believes. ***The full text of the interview will be released on the news feed and posted on the BELTA website.-0-
