Tourists will be able to experience the Easter traditions of Postavy region for the first time
March 20, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Easter traditions of Postavy region will be in the spotlight of tourists for the first time. An unusual tour during the celebration of the greatest Christian holiday is being organized by the Postavy Center for Tourist Services, its director Egor Shushkevich told a BELTA correspondent.
Tourists will be offered to visit unique religious architectural monuments. For example, the Holy Trinity Church in the village of Dunilovichi is the only one in Belarus with a two-tiered stepped altar. It houses the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Loreto, as believers consider it. In the village of Mankovichi, there is the eclectic Holy Assumption Church, built in 1855. The beautiful Church of St. Anthony of Padua is rightfully considered the hallmark of Postavy. This time, the church promises to impress with its collection of ritual objects that other museums might dream of. Among the exhibits is a pyx made in 1663.
The tour will not be limited to an acquaintance with architectural monuments, as Easter is a joyful and long-awaited holiday, adorned with age-old folk rituals and beliefs. Egg rolling and battles, celebratory songs, and an ethno-disco have been prepared for the guests by the organizers. Of course, there will be traditional Easter treats – eggs and kulichi. Kulichi will be baked by craftswomen from the folk club of national cuisine, games, and rituals "Tradition," while eggs for treating tourists will be laid not only by chickens but also by ostriches.
As Egor Shushkevich noted, the religious traditions of Catholics and Orthodox Christians were taken into account when developing the tour. On Holy Saturday, according to the Gregorian (April 11) and Julian (April 18) calendars, guests will be offered a Lenten menu and a visit to a church or cathedral. And on Easter Sunday, April 12, 19, 25, 26, tourists will get acquainted with all the Easter traditions of the Postavy region. -0-
