Tourism and agricultural production should become priorities in the development of the Braslav district - A. Yakobson

August 11, Braslav district / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Tourism and agricultural sector development should be priorities for the Braslav district. This point of view was expressed today at a meeting with the labor collective of SPC "Mayak Braslavsky" by the Chairman of the Committee of State Control of Belarus Alexander Yakobson, BELTA correspondent reports.

Tourism in Braslav region should constitute the main part of the gross regional product. However, to attract investors to this sphere, it is necessary to develop infrastructure: build roads, lay engineering communications, Alexander Yakobson added.

Chairman of the Braslav District Executive Committee Petr Gishkelyuk reported that 133 agro-ecotourism estates are registered in the district. According to him, the net income of a family engaged in the tourism business for the season is about $6-7 thousand.

The development of agro-ecotourism requires a careful attitude to the environment, therefore, according to Alexander Yakobson, it is inexpedient to open large-scale production facilities in the district, and priority should be given to the development of the agro-industrial complex. The Chairman of the CSC considers the current state of affairs in the district's AIC to be unsatisfactory. "The average milk yield per cow of 3.6 tons per year is an anachronism," he stated. The head of the control department demanded that agricultural producers revise their approaches to economic indicators. "We need to think not about quantitative indicators, but about qualitative ones - profitability, low cost, high labor productivity," he said.

On August 11, Chairman of the CSC Alexander Yakobson visited the Braslav district on a working trip, where he got acquainted with the development of agricultural production, the progress of the harvesting campaign, and met with the labor collectives of SPC "Mayak Braslavsky" and the branch of RUPP "Vitebskhlebprom" - Braslav bakery. -0-
