More than 224,000 people used tourism services of organizations in the Vitebsk region last year
"140 organizations carried out tourist activities in the region last year. In total, 224.5 thousand people used their services - these are organized tourists and excursionists. The latter numbered more than 170 thousand," specialists explained.
Organized tourism in the northern region continued to develop dynamically last year. In particular, if in 2021 the region was visited by about 3.4 thousand organized foreign tourists and excursionists, then in 2022 - almost 15.7 thousand. However, there was a slight decrease in the number of people who went abroad and were served by tourist organizations of the region - 21.1 thousand (a difference of about 2 thousand from the previous year).
187.8 thousand Belarusians chose tours within the country from firms in the region. More than 161 thousand people went on one-day trips.
Interestingly, Belarusians stayed abroad for an average of eight days, but in some countries they stayed much longer. For example, in Indonesia and Thailand they stayed for 16 days, in Brazil - 15, in Tanzania - 14, in Montenegro and Mauritius - for 13 days, the department of sports and tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee noted.
The average stay of foreign tourists in Belarus was three days.
The vast majority of hotel guests in the Vitebsk region were Belarusians. In total, over the year, 191.3 thousand people used the services of hotels and similar accommodation facilities, including 122.5 thousand citizens of our country. A similar situation was observed in terms of sanatorium-resort, health improvement organizations and other specialized accommodation facilities. 145.4 thousand people chose their services, more than 117 thousand of whom are Belarusians.
