Tourism services and wellness will become a highlight of the new day care center for the elderly, which opens today in Postavy. This was announced by Petr Kurto, Head of the Department of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Postavy District Executive Committee.

The opening of the department of the territorial center for social services for the population (TCSO) is timed to coincide with the International Day of Older Persons. Petr Kurto emphasized three main areas of the unit's work: educational services, leisure, and wellness. For example, a special feature will be an offer for tourists. Elderly travelers will be able to pay for accommodation for 3-5 days in a double guest room at a social rate and use the wellness services of the department. Also, upon request, they will be offered excursion services around the district with a visit to the TCSO branch in the urban settlement of Lintupy for training in Nordic walking. "Wellness services include a gym, a nurse's office that provides all types of massage, and a relaxation room with a massage chair, music, and aromatherapy. A separate block of water procedures includes a pearl bath with hydromassage, showers, and foot baths. Master classes on face and body care are also planned to be conducted by employees of a private beauty salon," noted Petr Kurto.

Educational services include the operation of a computer class, where, as part of a joint project with Belarussbank, the elderly will be taught to use internet banking. The main leisure venue will be the assembly hall, which will host retro parties, acquaintance evenings, rehearsals, and concerts by the local choir of war and labor veterans. "It took a whole year to reconstruct the old building allocated for the department. Br1 billion 2.6 million was spent on construction work, repairs and improvements, and equipment purchase, of which Br631.5 million are extrabudgetary funds. Budgetary financing amounted to Br143 million, sponsorship - Br125.2 million. And another Br102.9 million was allocated from the Social Protection Fund of the Population for paid public works. Landscaping, planting of fruit and berry plantations: apples, pears, blueberries, currants, and others were carried out. The harvest will be used in the work of the "Khozyayushka" club, the phyto-bar, and for holding mass events at the department.

In general, club and hobby group activities, traditional for similar departments in the region, will be developed here," added Petr Kurto. As explained by Vera Astapenko, Head of the Department of Social Support for the Population and Stationary Institutions of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee, after the new edition of the law on social services came into force in 2013, new types and forms of services began to appear everywhere. "Day care centers for the elderly have become one of the most in-demand, as they open up new opportunities for older people with an active life position. There are more such departments in the Vitebsk region than anywhere else in the republic. The department in Postavy became the 22nd, and by the end of the year, they will open in every district. And, importantly, many of them are aimed at providing a comprehensive set of rehabilitation services. The department in Postavy is exactly like that," concluded Vera Astapenko.
