Every boarding school in the Vitebsk region will have patrons

April 26, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Every nursing home in the Vitebsk region must have patrons. This instruction was given today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its chairman, Alexander Kosinets, a BELTA correspondent reports. There are 15 nursing homes in the region with 3.4 thousand beds, including five general-type facilities for the elderly and disabled with 765 beds, and 10 psycho-neurological facilities with 2.6 thousand beds. Currently, four such social institutions are undergoing reconstruction. Br50 billion is allocated from the Social Protection Fund for population for repair and construction work in 2012. Br5.7 billion is planned for strengthening the material and technical base of nursing homes from the regional budget. Another Br4.5 billion is allocated from the regional budget for the purchase of equipment and transport. At the same time, the wear and tear of vehicles in nursing homes is 80%, and medical equipment has not been updated for the last 12 years. To ensure the normal functioning of nursing homes, an additional Br5 billion is required. According to the governor, large industrial and agricultural enterprises are capable of providing material and financial assistance to nursing homes. "Each nursing home must be assigned patrons so that the elderly live with dignity," Alexander Kosinets emphasized. -0-
