Every village in the Vitebsk region has acquired patrons

The Presidium of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee adopted a resolution "On the Improvement of Rural Settlements in the Vitebsk Region," which assigned enterprises and organizations of Vitebsk, Orsha, Novopolotsk, and Polotsk to villages, the regional Council of Deputies informed a BELTA correspondent. The largest villages, of which there are over 500 in the region, have received patrons from among enterprises operating in cities. The remaining rural settlements (more than 5.6 thousand) are assigned to district enterprises and organizations. For example, OAO "Vistan" became the patron of the village of Krupenino. OAO "Naftan" took under its wing more than 30 villages in the Verkhnedvinsk district. In accordance with the joint resolution, district Councils of Deputies, district executive committees, and rural executive committees are to develop and implement improvement measures together with the patrons. Its mandatory points will include the repair and maintenance of rural streets, external water supply networks, lighting, sewerage, shaft wells, landscaping, felling of damaged trees, tidying up bus stops, facades of public buildings, maintenance of mini-landfills for solid household waste, and tidying up village cemeteries and military burials. Patrons will also provide assistance to veterans, disabled people, and lonely elderly people in improving their household plots. Regional and district headquarters will provide assistance in resolving organizational issues. Monitoring the implementation of improvement plans will be carried out monthly. -0-
