Vitebsk region medics received four modern ambulances
For the Vitebsk region, the Ministry of Health has acquired four excellently equipped resuscitation ambulances.
The vehicles are manufactured on the "Renault" platform and fully comply with all requirements for transporting critically ill patients. In essence, they are mobile mini-intensive care units.
One vehicle each has been allocated to Polotsk and the Vitebsk City Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care Station, while two resuscitation ambulances have been assigned to the Vitebsk Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care.
— The vehicles have arrived at a most opportune time, — notes Nikolai Petranis, head of the Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care. — Last year, at the request of colleagues, our specialists made approximately 850 trips to various districts, consulted on complex cases for over 960 patients, and performed over 250 surgeries. It is no secret that the fate of critically ill individuals often depends on every minute, however lost, during transportation to a specialized facility. The new resuscitation ambulances will help maximize the chances of preserving their lives.
Incidentally, leading specialists from the adult and pediatric regional clinical hospitals and the medical university are on duty around the clock at the emergency medicine center today. Although the number of calls to remote areas has been decreasing year by year due to the good equipment and staffing of regional medical institutions, district doctors periodically require assistance from highly qualified surgeons, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, cardiologists, and other specialists from the regional center.
Now, this assistance will be more accessible. Moreover, over the past three years, the technical fleet of healthcare institutions in the Vitebsk region has been significantly updated, with approximately 100 new vehicles added.
