Audio guides are available at the Museum of Belarusian Printing in Polotsk
New services are being actively introduced by the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. The Museum of Belarusian Book Printing now offers 10 audio guides, which allow visitors to listen to complete individual excursions in Belarusian or Russian.
Upon receiving a device similar to a mobile phone, visitors can independently walk through the museum halls and learn about the mysteries of the history of Belarusian writing development, stopping at exhibits marked in a special guide. The full route, as reported by Olga Filimonova, a research associate of the institution, covers 39 topics and is designed for 45 minutes. A journey through the museum with a guide takes approximately the same amount of time and costs 160 thousand rubles, while the services of an individual portable guide cost 50 thousand.
The only Museum of Belarusian Book Printing in the country is among the most popular in Polotsk. On weekends, it receives 10 or more groups of tourists from various cities in Russia and our republic. Previously, audio guides purchased as part of the international technical assistance project “Museum Gates”, appeared in the Museum of the History of Architecture of St. Sophia Cathedral; there, the tracks are recorded in three languages, including English. Later, it will also be added to the electronic devices of the Museum of Book Printing.
