The bronze student of Polotsk will have a girlfriend from Novopolotsk

January 18, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The Polotsk bronze medieval student will have a girlfriend from Novopolotsk. Polotsk State University has announced a competition to create a sculpture of a modern student, the university informed BELTA correspondent. Polotsk University is perhaps the only educational institution in Belarus whose faculties are located in two cities - Polotsk and Novopolotsk. The bronze schoolboy settled near the walls of the Faculty of Information Technologies in Polotsk at the end of last year as a tribute to the first higher education institution in Belarus, which was the Polotsk Jesuit Collegium founded in 1581 by Stephen Báthory. However, the rectorate of PSU decided that a sculpture embodying the spirit of modern student life should also appear in Novopolotsk, where most of the university's faculties are located. Considering that, unlike medieval Europe, more and more young women are sitting at the student desk today, the authors of the idea proposed that the competition participants embody the image of a girl in metal, and at the same time restore gender equality. Artists' works will be accepted for the competition until February 11. Then the projects will be presented for public discussion and for consideration by the jury of the creative competition. The best project will be cast in bronze and installed near one of the new buildings of PSU in Novopolotsk. -0-
