Vitebsk will host a theatrical version of the film "Autumn Sonata"
On November 13, the Yakub Kolas Drama Theater will host the premiere of the play "Autumn Sonata." This title is well-known to connoisseurs of auteur cinema. Vitebsk director Igor Bayarintsev has created a stage version of the famous film by Swedish director Ingmar Bergman.
"The plot is the same. After a seven-year break, the famous pianist Charlotte visits her daughter Eva. Having been preoccupied only with herself all her life, the mother cannot even imagine the suffering Eva endured, deprived of care and love. A night conversation – this is precisely how the genre of the play is defined – becomes a true confession. Will the mother and daughter be able to understand each other? Or can what has been lost never be regained?" - Marina Petrova, head of the theater's literary and dramatic department, briefly recounts the content of the Kolas Theater's new work.
The role of Charlotte is played by Larisa Antoseva, the role of Eva by Nina Obukhova, the role of Viktor by Gennady Gayduk and Vladimir Sivitsky, and the role of Alena by Marina Petrova and Alena Grin. The play is staged for Larisa Antoseva's anniversary. The performance takes place not on the main stage, but in the theater's drawing-room. And this brings the actors closer to the audience, and the audience closer to the actors, even more. Because "Autumn Sonata" is a play-conversation that touches upon deep psychological issues.
