11 kg of marijuana seized from a resident of Lepel district

A batch of marijuana weighing 11 kg was seized from a resident of Lepel district, the head of the drug control department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Oleg Surkov, told a BELTA correspondent. During a special operation, law enforcement officers discovered illegal products in a hangar near the village of Borovka, rented by a local individual entrepreneur. However, the 25-year-old resident of Lepel district kept most of the drug in eight caches in a forest area. It is assumed that the goods came from Ukraine or Russia and were intended for sale in youth entertainment venues in the region and the capital. Currently, the channels of supply of the narcotic substance and its further distribution routes are being established. A criminal case has been initiated against the resident of Lepel for illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs in a large quantity under Part 3 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code, which provides for up to 13 years of imprisonment with possible confiscation of property. -0-
