Winter rapeseed harvesting is nearing completion in the Vitebsk region
As of the morning of August 3, 20.6 thousand hectares of this crop had been harvested in the region, accounting for 95% of the total area. Fourteen out of 21 districts have fully completed the winter rapeseed harvest. In the remaining districts, an average of 90-98% of the areas have been harvested. The harvesting of grain and leguminous crops is actively progressing in the region. While the weather remains good and dry, agricultural workers in the Vitebsk region are striving to make the most of every minute.
Already 31% of the areas, or 102.3 thousand hectares, have been harvested in the region. A total of 290.8 thousand tons of grain have been threshed, with an average yield of 28.5 centners per hectare. The highest yields are being harvested by the agricultural workers of the Polotsk district (35 centners/ha), Orsha district (34.2 centners/ha), Vitebsk district (33.6 centners/ha), and Verkhnedvinsk district (33 centners/ha). The largest areas have been harvested in the Glubokoye district (50.7%), Postavy district (50%), Chashniki district (38.6%), Beshenkovichi district (36%), and Verkhnedvinsk district (35%).
On August 3, the first crew to reach the two-thousand-ton mark appeared in the region, as reported by Viktor Gutorov, chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agricultural Workers. This crew, from the Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant, consisted of senior combine operator Leonid Alekseenko and his assistant Pavel Khonyak, who had only a few days prior received congratulations for threshing the first thousand tons of grain in the region. They harvested the second thousand tons on the fields of the Lepel district.
The list of leading thousand-ton threshers has also expanded in recent days. It now includes two crews from the Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant (senior combine operators - Leonid Paramonov and Alexander Kolpakov), who worked on the fields of the Sennenskoye and Gorodok districts; Yuri Ordynsky, a machine operator from the Glubokoye Feed Mill, who threshed a thousand tons in the Sharkovshchina district; and Alexander Komarov, a representative of the Orsha Grain Products Combine, who is working on the fields of his district.
