The harvesting campaign in the Vitebsk region is proceeding without incidents
August 9, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The harvesting campaign in the Vitebsk region is proceeding without incident. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Sergey Anufriev, First Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the State Labor Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
"As of August 9, there have been no fatalities or serious injuries to agricultural workers directly during the harvest," said Sergey Anufriev. The only case of serious injury to an employee of the agro-industrial complex, registered during the harvesting period, occurred at the Novoseki-Luchai agricultural enterprise in the Postavy district, in the mechanical workshops. During the repair of the front axle of a tractor, a jack broke, as a result of which a 20-year-old mechanic was crushed by the machine. The causes of the accident are being investigated.
To prevent emergencies, 26 mobile groups are overseeing the enforcement of labor protection legislation in the region's agricultural enterprises. Since the beginning of May, they have inspected over 186 agricultural organizations. Based on the results of inspections by state labor inspectors, 60 informational materials on identified violations have been sent to executive committees and 33 to prosecutor's offices.
Among the most common violations identified during inspections are disregard for safety regulations, use of equipment without technical inspections, and allowing mechanics to work without pre-trip medical examinations. In addition, in some cases, equipment used for fodder harvesting is not equipped with fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, or chocks. All this indicates that violations of labor protection legislation continue to be widespread in the region's agro-industrial complex, Sergey Anufriev summarized. -0-
