Participants of the "Road of Courage" armored rally will be welcomed in Orsha
Participants of the international armored vehicle rally of the Union State "Road of Courage" will be welcomed today in Orsha, as reported by the local district executive committee.
The district center will be the first of the Belarusian cities to be visited by the participants of the event. The rally includes 15 armored vehicles – both old models (there is a model produced in the 1930s) and innovative models of military equipment. Residents of the city will be able to see such powerful machines as BM14-17, BTR-40, BTR-152, BRDM-1, and BRDM-2. About 50 people are participating in the event. "We will meet them around 12:00 at the memorial complex 'For Our Soviet Motherland!', popularly known as 'Katyusha'. A rally dedicated to the upcoming anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War will be held here. Then, a city tour will be conducted for the guests, after which they will be taken to a memorial sign near the village of Pishchalovo, where the legendary 'Katyusha' fired its first salvo. And in the city park, an exhibition of the arrived vehicles will be held for the residents of Orsha, and those who wish will be able to take photos and inspect them," said Sergey Gorbachev, acting head of the culture department of the Orsha District Executive Committee.
In the morning of June 19, participants will head to Minsk. On June 22, they plan to arrive in Brest. The "Road of Courage" armored vehicle rally along the Moscow-Brest-Moscow route is timed to coincide with the 77th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. It started on June 16 at Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow and is being held for the second time. Participants will cover more than 2,000 km and visit 10 cities in Russia and Belarus.
Representatives from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Kazakhstan are also participating in the rally. The route coincides with the defense lines of Soviet troops in 1941. The rally is organized by the interregional public organization for promoting the study and operation of military equipment "Military-Technical Society." The "Road of Courage" event is implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation (Russia).
