Section of the R46 highway reopened after reconstruction in Polotsk district
The R46 Lepel - Polotsk - Russian Federation border highway is part of an international transport route and connects two fraternal countries. The reconstruction of the section was initiated by the order of the President of Belarus as part of the state investment program in 2022. Road workers completed the project in 20 months, ahead of the scheduled time by 5 months.
Today, traffic was opened on the second phase of the highway reconstruction, approximately 30 km long. Reconstruction work on three bridges has been completed here, 58 culverts have been replaced, engineering communications, intersections and junctions have been re-arranged and constructed, and an engineering and technological complex for traffic management and road maintenance has been built. The road reconstruction will continue.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, thanked the builders and noted that this is another reason for pride not only for them but for the entire region for their fruitful work. "Happy upcoming holiday, the Day of the Great October Revolution! Traditionally, we open new facilities for this day. Thank you very much for the work you have put into this road. What it was even a year ago is difficult to compare with what it has become. We bow low to you from all of Vitebsk land, Polotsk district, all the people who travel here every day. I am sure that this is not even the beginning, but a rather substantial part of the reconstruction of this road. We still have one section left - the bypass of Polotsk together with the bridge, so your work is only increasing. I wish you strength, peace, health, luck, and may everything work out for you at work and at home," the head of the regional executive committee addressed the employees of the road construction organizations involved in the road reconstruction.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus Alexander Egorov, who took part in the solemn ceremony, emphasized that great attention is paid to the quality of roads, their repair and maintenance in the country. "Often, words are not needed, often you just need to show what is being done in the country so that people come, travel on these beautiful roads and understand how the country is developing, how wonderful it is here, and that the state's policy is people-oriented. A road is comfort, a part of people's lives, some spend a significant amount of time in it, and this should be done with comfort. The main thing is that this is part of the transit road from Minsk to the north of the Russian Federation, to St. Petersburg. In addition to being infrastructure, it will also be regional development, because a large number of transit vehicles will pass through, and this will bring money, new business," said Alexander Egorov.
A convoy of cars opened traffic on the renovated section of the road, which is an important transport artery for the residents of the Polotsk district.
