Exercises to eliminate emergencies at crowded places have begun in the Vitebsk region
Tactical special exercises have begun in the Vitebsk region at facilities with mass gatherings of people, a correspondent of BELTA was informed by the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
On February 5, tactical special exercises of the local garrison were held in the village of Lunacharskoye, Verkhnedvinsk district, to prevent and eliminate emergencies at the State Social Service Institution "Lunacharskoye Psycho-neurological Nursing Home for the Elderly and Disabled".
According to the exercise conditions, a fire broke out in a room on the 2nd floor of the residential block due to violation of fire safety rules. Before the arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units, the duty personnel of the facility organized the evacuation of patients to neighboring buildings. Rescuers assessed the situation and evacuated the "victims" from the smoke-filled area. Employees of the Department of Internal Affairs and ambulance crews were involved in the exercises.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that practicing operational actions in case of emergencies in such institutions is necessary to coordinate the actions of their staff and the emergency response services involved. Tactical special exercises will continue until the end of March and will cover 31 facilities with mass gatherings of people.
