Information technologies are actively entering the life of modern man. Educators are not staying aside from progress either. To help them understand the intricacies of using the Internet's capabilities, the Novopolotsk City Digital Center IT Academy "Nota" offers special courses "Web 2.0 Services in the Educator's Work" to help teachers and heads of educational institutions master the basic skills of creating and maintaining an educational blog.
About 70 educators have already completed the training. Each of them has received a personal online journal after completing the courses. They post information in it depending on the specifics of their activities. For example, homeroom teachers use the service to keep photo and video diaries of class life, and inform students and their parents about the most important events and activities. In turn, parents can join the discussion by leaving comments. Subject teachers can duplicate homework assignments, systematize the material presented in class in an online table, and offer short summaries of new topics or additional materials for independent study. Some educators have already gained over a hundred subscribers who regularly follow updates. The service also provides additional opportunities for administrators: in addition to useful links for colleagues, many have set up online reception areas on their pages. Incoming questions and suggestions allow for the improvement of the institution's methods and ways of working.
– We hope that the blogs created during the training will become starting points for the educational practice of our teachers, – believes the head of the digital center Anna Tveritneva.
Many students have a thorough command of modern internet services, so why shouldn't teachers use these opportunities in their work.
