Educational institutions of the Vitebsk region will focus on fostering thrift among students in the Year of Thrift
During the Year of Thrift, educational institutions of the Vitebsk region are focusing on fostering thrift among students, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by Ivan Shchurok, head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
"Everything starts with kindergarten and school. Personality traits that are instilled there and in the family will remain with a person for life. If we instill a thrifty attitude in a child from an early age, it is natural that in the future he will grow up to be a master, a worthy person of our society. Therefore, in the Year of Thrift, declared in 2013, educational institutions of the Vitebsk region will focus on forming a хозяйственное (economic/resourceful) attitude towards all resources among students in the educational process," said Ivan Shchurok.
According to him, numerous round tables and quizzes will be dedicated to this topic, forming the basis for intellectual tournaments and literary competitions. Specific energy-saving measures are also planned: saving electricity, saving fuel, saving everything. "I believe that we should intensify this work, and educational institutions can achieve more here," added the head of the education department. He also noted that currently, 256 boiler houses remain on the balance of the region's educational institutions, which will be transferred to the region's housing and communal services within the next few years. It is important that they all operate on local types of fuel, the interlocutor concluded.
