The share of MSW in the fuel balance of the housing and communal services of the Vitebsk region has increased by almost a quarter since 2011
The share of local types of fuel (LTF) in the fuel balance of housing and communal services heat sources in the Vitebsk region for 2011-2015 increased by almost a quarter and as of October 2015 amounts to 68%, which is the highest indicator in Belarus, the housing and communal services department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee reported. During this period, an additional 37 LTF boilers with a total capacity of 85 MW were commissioned at the housing and communal services system boiler houses, including the installation of 4 boilers (6 MW) being completed this year.
Since 2011, housing and communal services enterprises have increased the volume of LTF consumption by 27.5%, or by 43.3 thousand tons of conventional fuel, which allowed replacing the consumption of 37.7 million cubic meters of natural gas and provided annual savings of about Br24.9 billion at current prices. The conversion of boiler houses to LTF has reduced the fuel component in the cost of one gigacalorie of thermal energy by almost Br20 thousand. In addition, in order to reduce the specific consumption of boiler and furnace fuel, 85 boilers with low efficiency, including 25 units this year, were replaced with more energy-efficient ones.
As a result, the specific consumption for the production of one gigacalorie of thermal energy decreased by 23 kg in terms of conventional fuel, which provides annual savings of fuel and energy resources in the amount of Br4.6 billion, or about 1.2 thousand tons of conventional fuel. This made it possible to further reduce the fuel component in the costs of producing a gigacalorie of heat by almost Br13 thousand, the housing and communal services department noted.
