The traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate is initiating training for preschoolers on road safety rules. This was announced today at a seminar-meeting of employees of the departments and inter-district departments of the traffic police of the Vitebsk region responsible for the prevention of road traffic injuries and interaction with the media, according to a BELTA correspondent. "The problem of child road traffic injuries is under special control of the regional traffic police department. This year, there has been a decrease in the number of road traffic accidents involving children, and the number of minors injured in accidents has decreased. As practice shows, the main cause of child road traffic injuries is not always the correct behavior of children on the road," noted the head of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate, Sergey Motorenok. In this regard, the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate is initiating the need to conduct educational and training events on traffic safety, starting from kindergarten. "It is necessary for children, upon entering school, to know the basics of safe behavior on the road. Unfortunately, parents pay little attention to this aspect of education and themselves become an example of how not to behave on the road," stated the head of the agitation and propaganda department of the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate, Alesya Seregina. According to her, methods for such training of preschoolers in traffic rules exist in the Russian Federation and have proven themselves well.
