Archival documents will be handed over to residents of the Vitebsk region who were taken to Germany during the war

April 23, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk Region will hand over archival German documents to residents of the region who were forcibly taken to Germany during the Great Patriotic War. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the press group of the regional directorate. The documents were discovered in so-called filtration cases during the scientific development of archival funds. Filtration cases were drawn up upon the return of displaced persons to their homeland. Among the documents are passports, workbooks and cards, passes with photographs, and camp permits of our compatriots, who were used as cheap labor in enterprises and agriculture, subjected to violence and humiliation. About 20 natives of the Vitebsk region, as well as their relatives and friends, are invited to the ceremony, which will take place on April 28 at the Polotsk inter-district department of the regional KGB Directorate. Unfortunately, not all displaced persons will be able to hold the documents in their hands again, as they did not live to see this day. "For the children and grandchildren of our compatriots, such documents will serve as a reminder of the fortitude of their loved ones, who believed in Victory until the very end," the press group noted. The work to search for citizens forcibly taken to Germany during the Great Patriotic War will continue, the press group added. -0-
