Ukrainian scientists are interested in joint research with Belarusian colleagues - academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

September 28, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. Ukrainian scientists are interested in strengthening integration with their Belarusian colleagues and conducting joint research in the field of physics of strength and plasticity of materials. This was stated in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by Sergey Firstov, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Deputy Director of the Institute of Materials Science Problems (Kyiv). He is taking part in the 50th International Scientific Symposium "Actual Problems of Strength," which is being held in Vitebsk. Participation in an authoritative scientific forum provides an opportunity not only to renew scientific ties and expand the interaction of scientific schools but also to discuss the possibility of conducting joint research, the academician believes. "We communicate in the same language, so we will easily be able to agree on new work, on the implementation of joint projects and research, which will allow us to effectively use our knowledge, mutually enriching each other, and the technological capabilities of Ukrainian and Belarusian science," Sergey Firstov is confident. According to him, Belarusian science holds a worthy place in the development of physical materials science, so Ukrainian scientists will gladly get acquainted with the latest achievements and research results in this field, which will be discussed during the conference. Today, one of the priorities of world science is the creation of fundamentally new structural states of materials with new properties. Ukrainian scientists will present the results of research in this area at the conference, as well as developments in the field of material strength, which can become a scientific basis for creating materials with high specific characteristics. The potential for using such materials is quite broad, especially in aviation and in the creation of spacecraft. At the same time, it is necessary to find applications for the acquired knowledge in the production of a wide range of consumer goods, which will increase the competitiveness of products, the scientist believes. "As an example, I would like to mention the fourth-generation Belarusian trolleybus, which is also capable of traveling a certain distance autonomously - you can be sure that many materials science problems have been solved in its development," said Sergey Firstov. More than 150 scientists and specialists from research centers, scientific and educational institutions of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, and China are participating in the scientific forum "Actual Problems of Strength." The symposium discusses the results of theoretical and experimental research in the field of physics and mechanics of strength, which make it possible to predict the most complex properties of materials, create nanomaterials with improved structure, and new surface coatings with high functional properties. The forum will be a platform for presenting the latest developments in materials science, innovative technologies for obtaining and processing materials. The symposium is organized by the Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vitebsk State Technological University, with the assistance of the Interstate Coordination Council for the Physics of Strength and Plasticity of Materials, the Ministry of Education, the National Academy of Sciences, the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the Physics of Condensed Matter. -0-
