Street exercise machines, basketball and workout grounds – a school sports complex has been opened in Vitebsk
The event was attended by teachers, students, local residents, builders, and government officials. Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev noted that similar modern facilities have already appeared at Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov and in the new Secondary School No. 47. "Both the designers and the builders put their heart into the sports complex. Everything is thought out, and changing rooms will also be installed here. Not only students but also residents of the microdistrict will be able to engage in sports," he said.

Similar sports complexes were planned to be opened this year in two more Vitebsk schools (No. 27 and No. 31), but the pandemic changed the plans. "Nevertheless, these tasks are not being abandoned; we will continue to renovate stadiums not only in Vitebsk but also in the districts. We have developed the "School Stadium" program and will formalize all this on paper soon," added Vladimir Terentyev.
The sports complex has tracks with a safe surface, outdoor exercise equipment, and courts for volleyball, football, basketball, and workout. There is also a sports town for younger students.
Director of Sports School No. 28, Elena Matveeva, noted that this is an excellent gift on the eve of the professional holiday for both the educators themselves, the students, and the residents of the nearby houses. "Less than a year ago, a regular stadium was closed for renovation, and today it is a modern sports complex with the necessary conditions for physical education," she said.
