A unique enterprise for the production of metal structures in Belarus is being built in the Polotsk district

By the end of the current year, the new enterprise plans to produce 200-300 tons of metal structures. A unique enterprise for Belarus is being built in the village of Farinovo. The project implementation will allow reaching a qualitatively new level of metal structure production and successfully competing in domestic and foreign markets.

SOOO "Novopolotsk Plant of Technological Metal Structures" was established at the end of 2011 and is part of the Russian group of companies "Promstroy". According to the chief engineer of the enterprise, Ivan Svirko, it all started with the acquisition at auction of unused buildings and structures of the former rural housing construction plant with an area of about 40 thousand square meters. By the way, at a price of one basic unit for each of the 17 objects, as a result of the bidding, their total cost increased to 5.5 billion rubles. These funds replenished the budget. The condition of the acquired buildings was deplorable. They were in a disassembled and dismantled state, and trees grew on the roofs. First of all, the administrative building was repaired. This allowed the organization of the necessary structure for enterprise management, the creation of its own design and engineering department, and the beginning of personnel selection – engineers and builders. In parallel, work was underway to find suppliers of main technological equipment and conduct tenders.

The reconstruction and modernization are planned in two stages. The first and second start-up complexes are currently under construction, with a production capacity of 12 thousand tons of metal structures per year. In the future, the volume will increase to 18 thousand tons. The products are intended for the energy sector – petrochemicals, oil refining, gas production, etc. In the construction of the new plant, in addition to the investments of the parent enterprise, bank loans are used, as well as funds from the regional innovation fund. In particular, the regional executive committee has allocated almost 21.7 billion rubles for the implementation of an automatic line for processing rolled metal profiles. It is expected that the equipment will be delivered in June. The construction of the plant is proceeding at a rather high pace: the main reconstruction work began in December 2013, and by the end of this year, it is planned to produce 200-300 tons of the first products.

At the initial stage, the Novopolotsk plant of technological metal structures will employ 120 people, and in the near future, the staff will increase to 250 employees.

Meanwhile, while the workshops are being built, the enterprise's design department is actively working. 13 people work there, mostly graduates of Polotsk State University. Natives of Glubokoye, Braslav, Postavy, Rossony, Molodechno, Polotsk, Novopolotsk have found promising and decent jobs in the village of Farinovo. Having already created about three thousand drawings in 3D format, the young designers not only fill the database but also bring the first income to the enterprise by fulfilling orders from third-party organizations, including Russian ones.

The uniqueness of the new enterprise lies in the fact that during the production of metal structures, 3D modeling, high-tech equipment, and modern software that controls the process will be combined here. The innovative production technology allows for a significant reduction in labor costs compared to traditional methods and ensures a high level of added value.
