The Directorate of the Department of Corrections of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk region has returned to its former building after reconstruction
This wonderful gift was presented to law enforcement officers for the New Year by the builders who completed the reconstruction on time. It took the contractor (UTSChP "StroySfera") just over seven months to fully restore the building of the late 19th – early 20th century, which is an architectural monument and is located in the very heart of Vitebsk – on the Western Dvina embankment on Kalinin Street.
-- The reconstruction became possible thanks to the State Investment Program for 2011-2012, approved by the head of state, which once again emphasizes Alexander Lukashenko's attention to law enforcement agencies, -- noted Pavel Shakalo, Deputy Head of the Department of Execution of Punishments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, during the grand opening. -- Optimal conditions for service have been created here for the staff of the regional department: the area norms for employees have been observed, video surveillance has been installed, there is a fully equipped duty unit, sports and assembly halls, an archive, and service offices. But the most important thing is that the historical past of the building was taken into account during the reconstruction. Today, it looks organically in the overall infrastructure of the city.
A total of 8.4 billion rubles were required for the reconstruction. And these funds were invested not in vain. Firstly, it was possible to preserve the architectural monument. Secondly, to improve the working conditions of law enforcement officers, which, according to the assurance of Igor Evseev, Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, will certainly affect the results of the work of law enforcement officers in our region.
