The infant mortality rate in the Vitebsk region has been below the national average for 5 years
Doctors make their contribution to this every day. Thanks to the improvement of the material and technical base of the obstetric and gynecological service, the professionalism of specialists, timely management decisions, and productive interaction between healthcare structures and authorities, the infant mortality rate in the region has been below the republican level for the last five years. For five months of work this year, it was 2.2 ppm in the northern region. Since 2009, no cases of maternal mortality have been registered in the Vitebsk region.
These and other crucial indicators determining demographic security have ensured a high assessment of the professionalism of the region's medics at the republican level.
Healthcare in the Vitebsk region took first place in the republican review of the quality and culture of medical care for the population among administrative territories based on the results of work for 2017.
In addition, among the best were the Lepel Central District Hospital, the Dobromysl rural district hospital of the Liozno Central District Hospital, the Opsa general practitioner's outpatient clinic of the Braslav Central District Hospital, and the Shibeck feldsher-midwife post of the Orsha Central Polyclinic. This confirms the accessibility and high quality of medical care not only in the regional center and large cities but also in rural areas.
