The grain harvest in Belarus, excluding corn, will be around 7 million tons

August 13, Smolevichi district / Vladimir Matveev - BELTA /. This year's grain harvest in Belarus, excluding corn, will be about 7 million tons. This was reported today to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Mikhail Rusy, BELTA correspondent reports. According to Mikhail Rusy, state farms will thresh 6.8 million tons, and the population and farmers will harvest about 600 thousand tons. In total, there will be about 7 million tons in the granaries of all categories of farms. The harvesting of grain, not including corn, in the republic is planned to be completed by next Wednesday. Also, the pace of corn harvesting is gradually increasing. The country's farmers plan to receive about 1 million tons of this crop, of which more than 800 thousand tons will be stored. As reported to the President, the overall corn harvest is quite good, however, there are losses due to weather in the Gomel region and in some places in the Mogilev region. In this regard, Alexander Lukashenko noted that it is necessary to work out options on how to help the affected regions so that the livestock population does not decrease there, as corn is used as feed. The head of state was also informed about the pace of straw harvesting. According to Mikhail Rusy, 73% has already been harvested. At the same time, there is a high demand for straw in Russia. As for potatoes, according to Mikhail Rusy, Belarusian farmers expect a harvest of about 1 million tons from collective farms alone, not including the population. Next year, it is planned to expand the sown areas of this crop to obtain a harvest of about 1.5 million tons. At the same time, attention will be paid not only to production but also to processing. The President was also informed about the harvest prospects for other agricultural crops. -0-
