The yield of beets and carrots in the Vitebsk region is 34% higher than last year

The yield of beets and carrots in the Vitebsk region exceeds last year's by 34%, as reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee.

"This year, vegetables are particularly pleasing. The yield of beets and carrots - these root crops are currently being actively harvested from the fields - averages 409 centners per hectare across the region. This is 140 centners more than last year," the committee noted. In total, over 30% of the areas planted with vegetable crops have already been harvested in the region. Potato growers in the region are also demonstrating good results. The yield of the "second bread," which has already been dug up from 75% of the areas, is the highest in the republic - 301.9 centners per hectare (the national average is 264.7 centners per hectare).

"The current year in the region has been rich in rainfall. This prevented us from harvesting a good grain crop - only 841 thousand tons of grain were threshed in the public sector, but it had a positive impact on potatoes, vegetables, and corn, the yield of which is also among the highest in the republic - 305 centners per hectare," the committee emphasized. As for other agricultural work, grain growers in the region continue to sow winter crops. This work has been completed on more than 60% of the planned areas. Within a week, the region plans to complete the flax harvest; currently, this work is over 70% complete.
