The living conditions of veterans will be checked in the Vitebsk region. This instruction was given today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its chairman, Alexander Kosinets, during the consideration of the issue of the implementation of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Social Services for 2011-2015 in the region, reports a BELTA correspondent.
"It is necessary to conduct a comprehensive survey of the living conditions of all veterans of the Great Patriotic War, surround them with attention, provide material assistance, and help where needed," said Alexander Kosinets, also emphasizing the need to resolve the issue of improving their housing conditions this year. In total, there are approximately 7 people in this category on the waiting list for housing improvement.
According to the latest data, 3.8 thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War live in the Vitebsk region. Br3.9 billion was utilized from the regional budget last year for the implementation of the program "Social Support for Veterans, Persons Affected by the Consequences of Wars, the Elderly and Disabled".
