Home care services for lonely WWII veterans in Belarus are planned to be made free

May 4, Minsk /Elena Prus - BELTA/. Belarus is considering the issue of providing free caregiver services to lonely Great Patriotic War veterans. This was announced today to journalists by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Belarus, Marianna Shchetkina, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent. According to the minister, this service was introduced recently, and its cost is Br30-40 thousand per day. "It is difficult for war participants, even considering their higher pensions compared to other categories of pensioners, to pay for these services," she said. "In a number of districts of the republic, decisions have been made to exempt lonely Great Patriotic War veterans from paying for caregiver services." Currently, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, together with regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee, is developing a unified approach to solving this problem. At the same time, Marianna Shchetkina added that veterans receive services at home, round-the-clock care departments are organized, and boarding houses are functioning. Therefore, elderly people in need of care receive qualified services in a timely and complete manner. The Minister of Labor and Social Protection expressed hope that the issue of free caregiver services for lonely veterans will be resolved in the near future. -0-
