Uspenskaya and Zamkovaya squares appeared in Vitebsk
Uspenskaya and Zamkovaya squares have appeared in Vitebsk, a BELTA correspondent was informed by the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies.
It is under these names that new elements of the street and road network of the regional center, located in the historical part of the city, will be entered into the address register of the Republic of Belarus. The decision of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies was made on the basis of Art. 11 of the Law of Belarus of November 16, 2010 "On the Naming of Geographical Objects" and Art. 15 of the Law of May 5, 1998 "On the Administrative-Territorial Structure of the Republic of Belarus" in order to streamline the address economy in the city of Vitebsk.
The squares are located next to each other. Uspenskaya is located on Uspenskaya Hill near the revived Holy Assumption Cathedral. The improved territory at the foot of the same Orthodox church at the intersection of Zamkovaya and Pushkin streets, including Pushkin Square, is now named "Zamkovaya Square".
Another Vitebsk square, Voskresenskaya, has been renamed Ratushnaya.
Until this time, there were 8 squares in the regional center: Pobedy Square, Freedom and Lenin Squares, Voskresenskaya Square, Privokzalnaya, Proletarskaya and Smolenskaya, as well as Vitebsk Millennium Square.
