Install a standalone smoke detector!
Often, EMERCOM reports inform about fire tragedies and deaths in fires. Everyone fears the raging element of fire, but in fires, especially at night, death is caused not by fire, but by toxic combustion products. 3-4 breaths are enough to lose consciousness. A person receives a lethal dose of carbon monoxide within 3 minutes, while the burning area may be only 1-2 square meters.
As a rule, smoke rises to the ceiling and then spreads along it, so the most preferable location for the alarm is on the ceiling in the middle of the room. The fire alarm can also be installed on the ceiling near the wall, but no closer than 10 cm from it, or on the wall at a distance of 10 to 30 cm from the ceiling. Corners between walls are the least ventilated places in rooms, so when placing the alarm on the ceiling or wall, it is not recommended to install it closer than 50 cm from the corner. Also, the device will be useless if placed in a cabinet or covered with clothing.
The fire alarm is installed using two "self-tapping screws". A Krona type battery is inserted inside, which needs to be replaced approximately once a year.
The flashing red LED on the alarm housing indicates its serviceability and standby mode. By the way, the alarm will warn when it's time to replace the battery.
The necessity of installing alarms in every home is indisputable. But it is a pity that a device capable of ridding people of indifference to their own safety has not yet been invented.
