Belarus announces recruitment for the training of international drivers for the first time

August 5, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. For the first time in Belarus, training for drivers for international road transport will begin with the new academic year. This field of study is being opened at the Minsk Vocational College of Assembly, Lifting and Transport, and Special Construction Works, the director of this educational institution, Tatyana Yastreb, informed journalists today, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. Today, the final of the 6th Republican Competition of Professional Skills of Truck Drivers is taking place at the Vitebsk Airport airfield.

Training will be conducted on the basis of 11th-grade education for 1 year and 3 months, with the qualification "Automobile Repair Mechanic and Automobile Driver (International Transport)" being awarded. The college has conducted career guidance among school graduates prior to announcing enrollment for this specialty. Today, with an enrollment plan of 30 students, more than 60 applications have been received from those wishing to obtain such a profession. Although the acceptance of documents will continue until August 20, the college will begin conducting professional selection and testing among applicants as early as August 8.

The first intake for the new specialty is fully based on applications from organizations that are part of the BAMAP International Carriers Association, so the first job for future graduates is guaranteed. It is planned that initially young specialists will work as auto mechanics, drivers on domestic routes, and within two years, they will undergo an internship at the enterprise as international drivers, noted Tatyana Yastreb. In the future, the option of training international drivers on the basis of 9th-grade education with a three-year training period is not excluded.

The Minsk Lyceum has the material resources for driver training, and at the same time counts on the assistance of transport companies interested in training professional personnel. Thus, a set of educational and methodological materials for the new specialty has already been prepared for the lyceum. The educational institution will attract highly qualified practitioners as teachers, and will also send full-time production training masters for internships at motor transport enterprises.

According to the Chairman of the BAMAP Association, Nikolai Borovoy, special attention should be paid to the quality of training for international drivers, as the success of international road transport development will largely depend on it. The organization of driver training for international transport will meet the demand for professional personnel. "And even if not all of them become international drivers, those who remain in the profession will be able to become true masters of their craft," - Nikolai Borovoy is confident.-0-
