The enrollment of students in technical specialties will be increased in Belarusian universities
November 18, Minsk / Tatyana Polezhay - BELTA /. The number of students admitted to technical specialties in Belarusian universities will be increased. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during his visit to the High-Tech Park in Minsk, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"We will increase the number of people being trained who are needed by the High-Tech Park," the head of state said.
While talking with the management of EPAM Systems, a company operating in the HTP, the President noted that Belarus will train more engineering personnel to meet the demand for them.
Arkady Dobkin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EPAM Systems, cited the high quality of training of graduates of Belarusian universities in technical specialties as one of the reasons for opening the company's office in Minsk. "A solid foundation for training such specialists has been preserved in the country since Soviet times. The quality of education in Belarus is good. Graduates of Belarusian universities do not feel inferior compared to graduates of Harvard and other renowned educational institutions," he noted. At the same time, according to him, the company has about 200 vacancies that have not yet been filled.
As reported by First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko, the Ministry of Education is already considering the possibility of increasing enrollment in universities for technical specialties. This may happen as early as the next academic year. -0-
