The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve predicts high popularity for ice fishing this season

Demand for ice fishing in the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve will be high, according to the environmental institution.

– One of the water bodies of greatest interest to amateur anglers is Lake Berezeshcha, which is located outside the reserve territory within the boundaries of the ELOH "Barsuki," – the reserve explained. – Given that pike and perch bite well at this time of year, fishing permits are quickly sold out. You can easily catch a trophy fish weighing 8 kg here.

The environmental institution reminded that amateur fishing is permitted in specially designated areas of the Berezinsky Reserve for citizens residing (registered at their place of residence, place of stay) within its boundaries, their close relatives, reserve employees, as well as citizens temporarily residing in hotels and guest houses of the reserve.

– Areas for amateur fishing for citizens temporarily residing in settlements within the reserve boundaries are limited to the Buzyanka River (Serguch) and the Serguchsky Canal from the point of confluence of the Serguchsky Canal into the Berezina River in the south to the bridge across the Buzyanka River on the M3 highway, – the specialists clarified.

Since the beginning of December, truly winter weather has set in on the territory of the reserve: for the second week, the cold has been stable not only at night but also during the day. In the pre-dawn hours, the air temperature sometimes drops to -9.5 degrees.

– The December frost has managed to freeze many bodies of water in the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve and its surroundings, – the specialists informed. – However, the ice on the lakes is not yet uniform, there are leads in places, and some rivers – for example, the Buzyanka – have not frozen at all. This requires fishermen to exercise great caution when going out on the ice.

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is located in the northern part of Belarus, on the border of the Vitebsk and Minsk regions. The total area is 85.2 thousand hectares.
