The exhibition of Belarusian artist Andrey Dukhounikov 'Vitebsk Impressions' is taking place in Berlin.
The exhibition of Belarusian artist and Director of the Vitebsk Center for Contemporary Art, Andrey DUKHOVNIKOV, "Vitebsk Impressions" opened on January 6 in Berlin, at the cultural center of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district.
The exhibition features about 40 graphic works by the artist, most of which are dedicated to Vitebsk. In Dukhovnikov's works, the laws of gravity usually do not apply: lines and strokes fly upwards, ancient Vitebsk buildings, towers, and churches are depicted schematically; they can lean, bow in a curtsy, or spin as if in a dance to a melody known only to the author. By the way, the exhibition opened with live music – the sounds of a saxophone (played by Belarusian saxophonist Andrey Lakisov, who lives in Berlin).
Artist Andrey Dukhovnikov - a brief biography:
Andrey Dukhovnikov was born in 1966 in the town of Lenger in southern Kazakhstan (former Chimkent region), where, according to his memories, there was extraordinarily beautiful nature, the Tian Shan mountains. It was there that Andrey Dukhovnikov began to draw – copying reproductions and photographs. At the age of 16, he moved with his parents to Belarus, graduated from the Faculty of Art and Graphics of the Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute named after S.M. Kirov (now VSU named after P.M. Masherov), worked at a gymnasium where he carried out interesting projects with students, and simultaneously exhibited his works extensively. Without stopping drawing for a single day, Andrey developed his individual creative style, which was appreciated by many lovers of fine art from Vitebsk and other cities and countries where the artist's works are distributed through private collections.
On the opening day of the vernissage, representatives of the German and Belarusian sides warmly welcomed guests – representatives of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district administration, city cultural institutions and public organizations, the creative intelligentsia. Belarusians presented the talented Vitebsk artist Andrey Dukhovnikov to the public. The attendees were offered informational materials about Vitebsk and the tourism potential of Belarus.
Berlin residents can get acquainted with the work of Andrey Dukhovnikov until February 25.
