A large-scale reconstruction of power grids is underway in Braslav
Citizens could not help but notice that the reconstruction of the electrical networks has begun. The last time it was carried out with the replacement of poles and wires was in the early 90s of the last century. Today, it is time to update the overhead lines. According to Ruslan Lapko, head of the Braslav District Electric Networks, the organization's employees began preparing for this event back in the autumn of 2017: they were involved in land selection acts and projects. Now, one of the main projects is being implemented on Gagarin Street. The overhead 10 kV line significantly spoiled the overall appearance of the embankment, so it was decided to dismantle it and replace it with an underground cable, including in the area where the traditional music festival "Viva Braslav" is held.
Also, the replacement of morally obsolete low-voltage lines has begun in various parts of the city. This week, a labor force of electricians began updating power transmission lines on Sovetskaya, Kirova, Engels, Leninskaya, Oktyabrya streets and adjacent alleys. In general, the reconstruction of networks with the replacement of poles and wires will cover a total length of over 20 kilometers. For safety and to improve voltage quality, electricians are now installing insulated wires of a larger cross-section than the old ones in the repair areas within the city limits.
In addition, the District Electric Networks personnel have begun major repairs with partial replacement of equipment at nine closed transformer substations, and five substations will be completely replaced with new ones. For example, in the area of kindergarten No. 3, lines are currently being reconstructed, the substation building is undergoing major repairs, and equipment is being updated to ensure greater reliability of electricity supply and improve electrical safety, while the second substation located nearby will be demolished.
In addition to the employees of the Braslav District Electric Networks, four more teams of electricians and builders from all over the region are involved in the reconstruction of the electrical networks of Braslav – a total of more than fifty people.
— We understand, — says Ruslan Lapko, — that the power outage will cause certain inconveniences for both city residents and organizations. Therefore, the replacement of overhead power lines will be carried out in parts: a section of it will be dismantled so that a new one can be built during the working day. At the same time, on the day before the power outage, subscribers will receive an SMS notification, of course, those who have subscribed to this free service. Builders and electricians will make every effort to complete the installation of each new section as quickly as possible and supply voltage to consumers. Despite the inconvenience, we must make the most of the opportunity that exists today thanks to "Dozhinki", as the power grids still need to be updated.
