In Chashniki, a map of the district was laid out with multi-colored tiles

A large historical and geographical map of the Chashniki district has been laid out with multi-colored tiles in the district center, reported Galina Avizha, head of the department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the district executive committee.

The map, with an area of 432 sq.m, appeared in the historical center of the city, next to the museum building (which is currently closed for renovation). The project was implemented in about three months. The map depicts the main settlements, roads, Novolukomlskaya GRES, and in the future, other enterprises of the district will be added. At night, points where mass executions of people and burned villages occurred during the Great Patriotic War are illuminated with red light. A viewing platform is located nearby, which can be climbed to see the map from above.

"We plan to immortalize famous natives on the platform, and we are still thinking about the next steps. Now we will focus on landscaping the map and planting trees around it," noted Galina Avizha.

This year, Chashniki celebrates its 515th anniversary. Recently, the House of Culture was opened in the city after major repairs, the local hospital underwent renovation, and a shooting range appeared in the gymnasium. Other festive events were also held. During the international memorial event "In Glory of Our Common Victory!", a capsule with soil taken from the district's mass graves was sealed in the district center and handed over for temporary storage to the historical museum.
