In Chashniki, a child nearly drowned in a well

В Чашниках ребенок чуть не утонул в колодце

A six-year-old girl nearly died after falling into a manhole. Fortunately, she was playing outside with her cousin, and the boy saw his little sister disappear underground. He called for adult help, and they pulled the child out.

The depth of the manhole is over two meters, and it was more than half-filled with water.

Natalia Maltseva, Deputy Prosecutor of Chashniksky District, states:

– The little girl was lucky: after diving headfirst into the water, she managed to surface and grab onto a metal reinforcement. Doctors diagnosed her with general hypothermia and severe stress. Currently, the prosecutor's office is conducting an inspection into the legality of the police officers' decision to refuse to initiate criminal proceedings.

The unfortunate manhole is located in one of the district's villages, where the girl from Novolukoml had come to visit her grandmother. The "trap" is located near the house, less than two meters from the street. The children claim that at the time of the incident, the 0.6-meter diameter manhole was only half-covered with plywood. It broke under the child's feet.

Responsible persons from the local housing and communal services explain that just a couple of weeks before the incident, they inspected the structure – it was securely covered with a wooden shield. Who stole the shield, and whether it was actually there, will have to be determined. But the fact remains – only by a stroke of luck did the girl survive.
