In honor of Ilya Repin's 170th anniversary, 'Ilyin Day' will be celebrated at the artist's estate

This widely popular holiday was once greatly loved at the estate of the famous artist "Zdravnevo". The atmosphere of this day is conveyed by the artist in the well-known drawing of 1893, "Holiday Merriment in Zdravnevo". In the courtyard of the main manor house, which was being rebuilt, merry people are depicted. The drawing is full of humor, plasticity, and expression.

Old traditions are alive at Repin's estate even now. Especially this year, when all connoisseurs of the artist's work are celebrating the 170th anniversary of his birth. Under the banner of this anniversary, many interesting events have already taken place at the estate: plein airs, master classes, exhibitions. And on the eve of "Ilyin Day", the estate awaits guests from St. Petersburg – friends of the museum, who actively participate in replenishing the museum's exposition. There have already been publications in the press about these people, who for almost a decade have been collecting and donating museum-worthy items to the museum. Many of them are already in the exposition of the house-museum. On this day, the estate will also welcome artists who, in the anniversary year, organized interesting exhibitions and conducted master classes.

National types of applied arts will be presented by guests from Polotsk. Elena Shushart will conduct a master class on "vytinanka" (paper cutting), and Nina Yarmukh will introduce guests to the weaving of Belarusian belts.

A small concert of works that were loved by Repin will take place. Vocal works will be performed by long-time friends of the museum, musicians and performers Tatyana Pozharitskaya and Marianna Trofimova.

Employees of the library of the urban-type settlement Ruba have prepared a small exhibition of literature about Repin for the holiday.

The "Ilyin Day" festival will conclude the cycle of summer anniversary events, and the soon-to-arrive autumn is preparing a series of new, no less interesting ones.
