More than 23 million rubles have been spent from the budget this year on the preparation of preschool, general secondary, special, and additional education institutions. Elena Bogdanovich, First Deputy Head of the Main Department for Education of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, points out:
— General secondary education institutions received certificates of readiness this year, while all others, as before, received passports. Serious work has been done on partial repairs of roofs, facades, utility networks, including heating networks, restrooms, lighting systems, food blocks, technological equipment, and landscaping of territories. Classrooms are being renovated by pedagogical and technical staff, and the necessary materials are purchased using local budgets, sponsorship, funds from off-budget activities, and trustee councils.
The latter, according to the interlocutor, do not stand aside, mainly helping not just with money, but with deeds. We are talking about cosmetic work, specifies Elena Leonidovna:
— Funds are allocated from the budget for current and capital repairs. At the same time, the three pillars on which any trustee council rests are voluntariness, transparency, and non-cash transfer of money to the educational institution's settlement account. It is possible to see how much has been collected, where and how it is intended to spend these funds, including on the schools' websites. — К 1 сентября автопарк школ района пополнят пять новеньких МАЗов. Они выйдут на маршрут в Чашникском, Глубокском, Бешенковичском, Дубровенском и Оршанском районах. До конца года планируем закупить еще три школьных автобуса.

В ноябре юбилей отметит одна из старейших школ Витебского района — Должанская (директор Михаил Ходос). Учреждению образования на берегу живописного озера Сосно исполнится сто лет. Первого сентября за парты здесь сядут 105 ребят, в том числе 14 первоклассников.
В последние годы малышей все больше, обозначает Татьяна Ерофеева, заместитель директора по учебно-воспитательной работе:
— Выпускников в 2021-м будет всего пять, зато все как на подбор — толковые, рассудительные, с тягой к знаниям. Специфика сельской школы еще и в том, что дети у нас всегда на виду.
Местные педагоги, а 60 процентов из них имеют высшую и 1-ю квалификационные категории, знают, как разглядеть таланты. Отсюда особенный, фактически ремонт путей эвакуации… На противопожарные мероприятия в этом году затрачено 440,6 тысячи рублей.

The funds were used for cosmetic repairs of classrooms, corridors, foyers, workshops, and sports and fitness rooms. Two primary school classrooms have undergone a complete transformation. During the new academic year, they plan to purchase more modern furniture and display boards for these classrooms. One of the classrooms features a renovated ceiling, which was made possible by the father of a primary school student. "Sincere thanks to such parents!" says a grateful Tatyana Vladimirovna.
The school has two interactive whiteboards. If necessary, students can always go to the classrooms where they are installed. They also dream of purchasing a multi-board and electronic microscopes for the biology classroom. By the way, a major renovation was carried out here in 2019. Ecological education is given considerable attention in Dolzha. Since 2013, six gifted students have become laureates of the special fund of the President. Two of them, 11th-graders Renata Kruchonova and Kirill Yerofeyev, will receive an award at the ceremony on September 1st. The students were recognized at the highest level for their research work in biology and ecology.
Students and mentors from the local school have been cooperating with the Vitebsk Forestry and the Losvido Forestry for many years. In 2019, Dolzha Secondary School joined the network of green schools in the country. In addition, it won the "Tandem V" mini-grant competition, organized by the Lev Sapieha Foundation. Almost $5,000, allocated for the "Ecosmartland" cultural and sports complex, will benefit the entire village. According to the plan, it will feature spacious areas – a children's playground and a board games area, outdoor exercise equipment, and a stage.
Dolzha Secondary School is at a low academic start. Both teachers and their students are waiting for the bell to ring for class. Alexei Danilenko, a top student and a ninth-grader-to-be, admits:
— I love to study. My favorite subjects are mathematics and computer science, I'm thinking of going into IT. I don't get bored during the holidays, but I'll gladly dive back into my studies and see my friends.

The first mention of the school in Dolzha dates back to November 2, 1920. Archives contain information that children began to be taught that year in the former estate of the landowner Karnilovich. The two-story wooden building with a stone foundation burned down during the retreat of the fascists during the Great Patriotic War. And on September 1, 1944, the school reopened. Its current location dates back to 1963.
