The reconstruction of the Rylenkі memorial continues in the Dubrovno district
The next headquarters meeting on the reconstruction of the "Rylenki" memorial complex was chaired by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev. Together with representatives of the district authorities, the head of the granite slab manufacturing company – "Eurokamen" LLC, Ivanovo, Brest region, the construction contractor – "Torgovo-stroitelny servis" LLC, Orsha, and the client – UP ZhKH "Dubrovno-Kommunalnik", they discussed in detail the materials, color scheme of the concrete pylons and slabs, memorial elements, and the pace of reconstruction.
To manufacture the granite and letters on the central stele of the "Rylenki" memorial complex, which will be adorned with the inscription "Your deeds are immortal," the granite slab manufacturing company – "Eurokamen" LLC, Ivanovo, Brest region – has specially purchased Italian equipment. There will be no analogues to this memorial in the country.
—Such mass graves are located in the Liozno, Vitebsk, and Dubrovno districts. The most famous is the "Rylenki" memorial complex, — stated Vladimir Terentyev. — There were over 360 tombstones here, which are not only morally outdated but also, made of various materials, have begun to deteriorate. Thanks to the local historians of the district, the list of those killed during the liberation of the Dubrovno region has been supplemented with 2461 names in recent years. And by July 3, 9402 names will be engraved on the memorial slabs. The work on facing with marble and granite will be carried out.
Vladimir Vladimirovich added that by June 25, the task is to fix the slabs with names onto the concrete bases.
—The second phase of reconstruction will follow, — noted the Chairman of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee, Oleg Lyndin. — Budgetary and extra-budgetary funds of the republic, region, and district will also be accumulated here. It is impossible not to mention that over the past decade, we have actively conducted search operations, clarifying the data of Soviet soldiers who died here during the Great Patriotic War. Now they will be immortalized on 228 memorial marble slabs. The "Rylionki" complex is a visited place, where people come not only on May 9 but also throughout the year to pay tribute to the fallen relatives. On Victory Day and within the framework of the International Festival of Song and Music "Dnyaproŭskiya halasy ŭ Dubroŭnie," rallies are held here.
The head of the district added that there are 29 military burial sites in the district. And each of them is under the close attention of the authorities.
The "Rylionki" memorial complex was erected in 1973 at the Rylionki mass grave — a burial place for more than 10,000 Soviet soldiers of the 11th Guards and 31st Armies who died in this area in fierce battles from October 1943 to June 1944.
