В Дубровно прошел областной фестиваль-ярмарка тружеников села \"Дажынкi-2017\"
Strict adherence to technologies is the key to success in agricultural production. This was noted by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, at the celebration of harvest leaders in Dubrovno.

The regional festival-fair of rural workers "Dazhynki-2017" was held in the district center. The ceremony of awarding diplomas, prizes and gifts to the winners of the regional competition, who achieved the best results in harvesting grain and leguminous crops, as well as rapeseed, took place on the central square of Dubrovno. Opening the celebration, Nikolai Sherstnev noted that great attention is paid to the development of the agrarian sector in the country and the region.

"The state of affairs in agriculture largely determines the sustainable development of society, the food security of the state, and the success of the region. The achievements of the agro-industrial complex are the result of the daily strenuous work of both ordinary workers of the rural field, processing and service organizations, farmers, as well as specialists, managers, agricultural scientists, veterans of agricultural production and youth, workers of the social and cultural sphere. Success in the rural field is facilitated by promptness, efficiency, and strict adherence to technologies," the governor said.

He emphasized that natural disasters often pose a serious obstacle for farmers. "Even old-timers cannot recall such a difficult season in terms of weather conditions, which the grain growers of Vitebsk region faced this year," the governor said. He recalled the snow in May, prolonged rains, and lack of warmth. "And yet, despite the difficulties and whims of the weather, the region harvested more than 1 million tons of grain, with a gross harvest of 150 thousand tons more than last year," Nikolai stated.

The governor summed up the harvest results and named the best. For example, the "Larinovka" enterprise of the Orsha district received a grain yield of 84.8 centners/ha, "Olgovskoye" of the Vitebsk district - 66.8 centners/ha, "Rudakovo" of the Vitebsk district - 66.3 centners/ha. 275 combine crews exceeded the thousandth threshed amount, and the duo of harvesters from the "Zadneprovsky" branch of OJSC "Orsha Grain Processing Plant" consisting of Sergey Grekov and Oleg Sushkevich set an absolute regional record, threshing 4 thousand 717 tons of grain. Leonid Paramonov and Dmitry Skripelyov (branch "Zaozerye" of Lepel district of OJSC "Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant"), Nikolay Zakharenko and Sergey Katkovsky (SPC "Larinovka") threshed more than 3 thousand tons.

"The region has fulfilled the state order, seed funds have been fully replenished. We have enough grain to provide public animal husbandry with concentrated feed. The focus this year on expanding the sowing of leguminous and oilseed crops has allowed most farms to practically solve the problem of vegetable protein. This year, for the first time, 81 thousand tons of leguminous crops in pure form were obtained," the governor said.

He also noted that a number of farms in the region have succeeded in rapeseed production. "We intend to continue developing this direction, improving the structure of sown areas and providing the livestock industry with its own protein. We have a task to increase the sowing of leguminous crops to 120 thousand hectares. Peas, lupins, and other leguminous crops in pure form should occupy at least 15% of the arable land, and rapeseed sowing should also be expanded to 120 thousand hectares," the governor outlined the plans.

Nikolay Sherstnev emphasized that the region's agricultural economy largely depends on the production and sale of livestock products. "A stable feed base and an increase in the volume of haylage harvesting have become a strategic direction of crop production this year. The expansion of perennial grass areas, an increase in the proportion of clovers, and a focus on leguminous crops this year have confirmed the correctness of the chosen strategy," Nikolay Sherstnev stated.

He also reported that agricultural

organizations acquired 970 units of equipment this year, including 80 energy-intensive tractors with a capacity of 350-500 horsepower, high-performance grain and forage harvesters, and other equipment. "The work on acquiring equipment will continue in the coming years," noted the head of the region.

Dubrovno was significantly transformed for the holiday. More than 200 facilities, 70 of which are in the social sphere, were given a new lease on life. A recreation area with a comfortable children's playground, living green compositions, and a new fountain has been created on the central square. "Much has been done to ensure that people have decent infrastructure, want to work, and that young people create families in their small homeland. Today we opened a hall for ceremonial rites, where the first wedding ceremony of newlyweds took place. Significant transformations have affected the city stadium, a new complex sports ground for game sports has been built. Secondary School No. 1, Kindergartens No. 3 and No. 4, the Children's Art School, the House of Culture, and the House of Crafts have been capitally repaired," the governor listed.

He recalled that next year "Dazhynki" will be hosted by Verkhnedvinsk, which should also be significantly updated for the holiday.

The head of the region cordially congratulated the leaders and thanked all the farmers for their conscientious work. "May the bread harvest of Vitebsk region become more substantial every year, and our land - richer. We sincerely say: respect, honor, and glory to the difficult peasant labor! Happy holiday, dear friends!" - concluded the governor.

Many events were held in Dubrovno, including the regional competitions "Asilak syala", the project "Traditional Costume of Vitebsk Region", the competition "Dazhynachny snop", an exhibition of bread loaves from the districts, master classes by folk craftsmen, and demonstration sites of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the State Traffic Inspectorate were operational. The holiday continued with concert programs, and "Dazhynki" concluded with an evening firework display.
