A republican seminar-meeting on flax cultivation was held in Dubrovno
Currently, primary flax processing is carried out at 22 flax mills in the republic and two production sites.
Analyzing the current situation in flax processing, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Dvornik emphasized that there must be a хозяйский подход (a thrifty and responsible approach) in everything.
– For a new line, we need to grow and process flax straw of appropriate quality, and these parameters do not match. The Dubrovno Flax Mill is managed by people who use every opportunity to earn money. Therefore, today we will learn here to work for results, – stated Vladimir Dvornik.
Recall that the President set the task of growing 180 thousand tons of flax straw for the production of 55 thousand tons of flax fiber and providing raw materials to the organizations of the "Bellegprom" concern to meet full demand. In 2019, long-staple flax was cultivated in 46 districts of the republic. 154.5 thousand tons of flax straw were harvested, which is 19 thousand tons, or 14%, higher than in 2018. The yield of long-staple flax straw was 31.7 centners per hectare (an increase of 1.9 centners compared to 2018).
Speaking about the results of flax cultivation and harvesting, and the tasks for 2020, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Grakun noted that the target indicator was met by enterprises only by 86%.
– Analysis shows that violating just one link in the technology – reducing the seeding rate – plays a decisive role in obtaining the planned harvest. Of course, all elements of technology are important, but we will get nothing from the land if we don't sow enough seeds, – he emphasized.
Anatoly Bosenkov, director of OJSC "Dubrovno Flax Mill," explained in detail how to achieve a yield of 4 tons of flax straw per hectare. Seminar participants visited the production workshops and the raw material yard of the enterprise.
