In Dubrovno, for many years of beating his mistress, a man could be imprisoned for 3 years

In Dubrovno, a man who beat his cohabitant for about two decades has been brought to criminal responsibility.

This criminal story has been going on for many years; during this time, the couple raised a son. The common-law husband and wife enjoyed drinking and quarreling. Over the past year, police officers responded to calls from the 60-year-old woman four times.

The woman, after "scaring" her 55-year-old partner with uniformed officers, invariably forgave him and refused to undergo forensic medical examination. She nursed her bruises and contusions at home. However, since the common-law husband had previously been repeatedly convicted of torture and threat of murder, he was brought to administrative responsibility against the victim's will.

This time, the police, tired of constant calls to the family brawler, decided to proceed with the case. The prosecutor's office initiated criminal proceedings, and no amount of "I forgive" or "I have no claims" from the woman could help anymore.

Andrei Starchenko, Deputy Prosecutor of the Dubrovno District, says:

– Currently, the case has been sent to court. For systematic torture of his cohabitant, the accused may face imprisonment for up to 3 years.
