A new district court building has been opened in Glubokoye
"These are exactly the types of court buildings we plan to construct in the future. It is built according to a special design – modern and strictly functional. It has everything necessary for justice, and at the same time, it is beautiful and convenient. People entering this building will treat the law with respect, and values such as fairness and justice. One might say that by housing judicial institutions in such buildings, we are also conducting legal education," said Valentin Sukalo.
The ribbon is cut by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus Valentin Sukalo, the Chairman of the Glubokoye District Executive Committee Oleg Morkhat, and the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Penin Valentin Sukalo (in the center). The two-story building in Glubokoye was built in a short period – in 10 months. "We have our own vision, our own program for the reconstruction and construction of new court buildings. Our main construction project is the Palace of Justice in Minsk. We expect to commission it in a year, in November. In addition, we are building the Palace of Justice in Brest. And at the end of this year, after major repairs, we are commissioning five buildings of large courts. We are moving not so much towards new construction as towards the reconstruction and modernization of existing buildings. We are bringing them up to modern standards and equipping them with office equipment," noted the Chairman of the Supreme Court.
He said that the new buildings offer completely different conditions for court participants and the possibility to interrogate protected witnesses. "The technologies, computer equipment, programs, and databases are all modern, everything to keep pace with the times."
"We are moving to electronic document management. This is next-generation justice, of the next century," Valentin Sukalo added.
Continuing the topic of the justice of the future, he emphasized that there should be nothing superfluous in the process itself. "It is important that everything is simple, understandable, and accessible to people. This, I think, is the main thing. People may leave the courtroom with different points of view, with different moods, but they should have a sense that justice has been served," the Chairman of the Supreme Court is convinced. - Today we are working a lot on mediation, on terminating cases without bringing them to a court decision. This is more modern, more simplified, more efficient."
The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Vladimir Andreichenko, in turn, assured that every person has the right to count on help and support from the state. "The construction of such beautiful buildings indicates that the authorities pay great attention to the issues of developing a rule-of-law state. Because only in a rule-of-law state, where a normal climate is created, a healthy social environment exists, can socio-economic development tasks be effectively solved," he said.
In accordance with the decree on improving the judicial system of Belarus, from January 1, 2014, the Supreme Court assumed the functions of organizational, logistical, and personnel support for the activities of courts of general jurisdiction. This decision made it possible to actively carry out the construction of new court buildings, as well as to carry out major and current repairs. From 2014 to the present, six new court buildings have been constructed, and 17 buildings have undergone major repairs.
