In the Glubokoye district, corn sowing has begun: the first 40 hectares have been sown at JSC "Seltsy"
The farm director, Vladimir Pashkevich, is convinced that they were not in a hurry. According to him, corn can be sown when the soil at a depth of 10 cm warms up to plus 8 degrees Celsius. This requirement has been met on light soils. There is also a second factor accelerating the process. This year, the agricultural enterprise has allocated almost twice as much area for the queen of the fields. In 2023, it was grown on 250 hectares, and in 2024, it is planned to sow on 450 hectares.
The head of the farm explains this step by the need to improve the fodder base for the public livestock.
The best lands have been allocated for the crop, they have been fertilized with organic matter, and the soil preparation was entrusted to Evgeny Protas. He received his new "Belarus-3522" with a disc harrow only last year. One of the most experienced machine operators, Andris Pilskalns, is directly entrusted with the sowing.
The sowing campaign at OAO "Seltsy" is proceeding in an organized manner in all directions. Machine operators Denis Leshkevich and Leonid Dragun have applied organic matter to the soil. Workers from the housing and communal services and the district electric network, attracted for the sowing campaign, helped them. Only those who ensure the operability of the equipment remained at the machine yard.
